Hannibal has so many beautiful historic buildings that have been restored a restoration projects in progress. And in our Bicentennial year that is more exciting than ever!

Here is a BIG beautification project (70 feet wide and 40 feet tall to be exact) in downtown Hannibal that needs your help on Kickstarter by September 8th!

This project was approved by Hannibal's City Council to utilize that east facing wall of Hannibal’s City Hall to create a mural designed by Missouri Artist, Ray Harvey. This mural will take a large step towards bringing back Broadway utilizing this exposed and weather worn wall. Ray has created the most murals in Missouri at over 500 murals. In his experience these murals create a feel good sense for communities that they can take pride in and is excited to take on this massive 70 foot wide and 40 foot tall mural. Ray also has a couple other murals located in Hannibal on Market Street of classic cars and the american flag mural.

FAQ #1: Why should I donate? Why not someone else?
This project is for YOU! And the way it is structured it will only happen if the community that supports it wants it to. Our city did not decide to take tax-payer money to fund this project that some may not want to pay for. They are going to provide the easel for it if WE want it to happen.

FAQ #2: If you pay and the goal is not reached what happens??
All money directed to this goal is a pledge. No money is taken out of your account unless the goal is reached. That also means if the goal is not met and you will not be charge. That also means the mural will not happen! You must make your pledge prior to September 8th in order to make this mural a reality.

FAQ #3: How will this mural hold up?

The paint used on this project originated in Austria. It has been used on murals that have been around since the 1800's. The paint is natural and mineral based. This means that the brick it will be painted on will be allowed to breath. Moisture will NOT become trapped behind the paint and cause the building to deteriorate. This is a project using quality materials that will last for generations!

FAQ #4: What about the windows? Will they look weird?
The design of the painting strategically places windows in places such as in the opening of the riverboat. The windows will not affect the impact of this two-story mural.

FAQ #5: Do I have to pay Kickstarter?
Essentially, yes. The reason is, because the project does not happen unless the goal on Kickstarter is met. That means if you give a $100 check and the goal on Kickstarter in not met any money raised through Kickstarter goes away. If you are uncomfortable paying online please message our page and we can give you some options.

Remember all pledges have to be in by September 8th or this dream can't become a reality! The link to pledge is here. Help bring back Broadway and downtown Hannibal beautiful!
