Put on your lederhosen and join us in downtown Hannibal for a weekend of German-themed fun at the 2019 Oktoberfest! Stroll through Historic Main Street and enjoy traditional German beer and food, live performances from Polka bands, Hannibal’s Largest Ever Chicken Dance, local musicians, games, brewery tours, demonstrations, photo booths, and more!

The band performs music in the tradition of the German Bier Hall playing Polkas, Waltzes and Big Band music from the 1920's to 1980's pop music. The band has been together since 1969 and performs throughout the Midwest.

German Steinholding Competition

Raise a glass and celebrate Oktoberfest in Historic Downtown Hannibal! Steinholding, or Masskrugstemmen, is a Bavarian test of strength and endurance where contestants hold a 1-liter stein of beer (which weighs about 5 pounds) out in front of them at shoulder level for as long as they can.
Sounds simple enough.. but you must maintain good form! No beer spilled. No bendy elbows. And extended arms must be kept parallel to the ground. The winner is the person who can keep their stein aloft the longest.
Steinholding competitions will be held every hour from 11:30-8:30 on Saturday on Main Street behind the Hill Street Stage. All Saturday winners will be invited back for Steinholding Finals on Sunday at 2pm. $5 contest entry. Winner of each round gets a free beer. All proceeds to benefit Access to Healing and Wellness.

Arty Party: Fall Splatter Tree

Hannibal Arts Council
Explore the arts in a whole new way with an art experience with no art experience required. The Fall platter Tree Arty Party will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S. Main St. Participants will use Fall color combinations of their choice to create a decorative “splatter” painting of a tree on a rectangular canvas. All supplies included. The project will be led by local artist and HAC Program Coordinator Brenda Beck Fisher.

The Hannibal Jaycees are coming to Hannibal Oktoberfest 2019. Compete against your friends for the chance to win koozies, Jaycees Haunted House tickets, Monster Mash tickets, and more! The game is simple. Balance your beer on the board while using pulleys to lift upwards and drink. The first person to finish without spilling wins! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the fastest times of the day.

An excuse for adults (and dogs of all breeds) to make wiener jokes!” 🐾 Keep it clean, mammals! Each pup of any breed (big, small ,short or tall), OUTFITTED IN A HOT DOG COSTUME, will run approximately 75 feet in heats of 10 (according to weight class) to their owner at the opposite end. The winner of each heat will compete in a final race to determine the winning “wiener dog”.
