IMG_0340.jpeg

UPDATE 5/3/20

“Business as usual,” is not something you’ll hear often right now. As unusual as the times are we have created a guide to make it easier to find how to safely support your favorite local and small businesses and enjoy Downtown Hannibal.

We will do our best to keep this list as up to date as possible! Please check back often for changes.

You can also follow our Facebook Page, Historic Downtown Hannibal, for more updates or subscribe to our email newsletter.

Here are some ways you can support a small business during this time 👇

• Order online from their website.
• Get carryout, delivery, or curbside service from your favorite local restaurant.
• Give them a call and place an order over the phone.
• Message their Facebook Page.
• Get a gift certificate or gift card for later.
• Leave a large tip

Other ways you can help:
• Share their posts
• Leave a good review
• Comment on their posts
• Understand the hard decisions (hour changes, operations, closures, etc.)
• Check in and say hi through a message or email! 👋

If you have any questions about a specific downtown business not listed here please email us at info@historichannibalmo.com. We will get you in touch with the best person to help!

All Parks are OPEN with Social Distancing.

We reccomend following the Hannibal Parks and Recreation Facebook page for updates. They also have created some fun videos called Nature Moments with Gale to learn about nature and how you can relieve stress.

Some equipment has been removed from our downtown parks, like picnic tables, and the playgrounds are not open at this time. Be sure to maintain social distancing while outdoors and enjoy these tips:

  • Visit one of the many parks thanks to Hannibal Parks & Recreation. Visit www.HannibalParks.org for their full list.

  • Walk, Hike, or Run
    • Downtown Streets (two laps around North Main equals one mile)
    • Sodalis Nature Preserve & Trails
    • Bear Creek Trail
    • Riverview Park (opens 4/27 to foot traffic)
    • Try the Hannibal Cannibal Route

  • 🚲Take a bike ride. Need a tune up, new bike, or other recommendations? Give CoolByke, Bicycle Shop a call!

  • Climb the Lighthouse Stairs. There are 144 of them and a beautiful view at the top.

  • 📷 Take lots of pictures or have your own for-fun photo shoot.

  • Fly a Kite in Riverview Park (opens April 27th to foot traffic)

  • Watch the Sunset or Sunrise over the Mississippi at a scenic river view like Lovers Leap or from the atop the levy gardens behind HNB Bank.

  • 🎣 Go fishing in the Mississippi River

  • For the technology fan who also wants to go outside try Pokémon Go or Geocaching.

  • Search for painted rocks downtown. Or paint them and hide them for others to search for! Visit the Hannibal Rocks Facebook group to share rocks you have hidden or found.

  • View Historic Landmarks and Statues
